INFOSYS MYSORE CAMPUS OVERVIEW

Renowned IT company, Infosys Technologies has built the world's biggest corporate training facility for IT professionals in Mysore.

The Rs. 260 crore corporate training centre has been set up by Infosys, which adds 12,000 employees every year. The US $ 60 million training centre is housed in a 270 acre campus at Mysore, the city known for its academic and research institutions and heritage buildings and palaces constructed by the Mysore Maharajas Mysore is being developed as a secondary IT city to Bangalore by the Karnataka Government offering them various facilities. The expansion of the Mysore airport, Mysore-Bangalore road into four-lane and doubling of Mysore-Bangalore road are also under progress.
Built by Shobha developers, one of reputed architect solutions' company, the facilities created at the new centre of the Infosys comprise food court, employee care centre, theatre, and education research block, beside the trainee hostel. It is spread over 16 lakh sq ft of area. The centre has already become partially functional and will start functioning formally from February 12.
The Infosys Leadership Institute (ILI) with 96 rooms is already located and become functional in this campus in the Hebbal industry area, one of the biggest industry belts in Karnataka State. Built on the most modern lines, the ILI trains about 400 Infosians
annually to become `leaders.' The new training centre will be independent of the ILI.
Infosys' Chairman and Chief Mentor M.R.Narayana Murthy has described the training centre, located 140 kms off from India's silicon valley, Bangalore, as the biggest corporate training facility in the world. "We are setting up the biggest corporate training
facility in the world with 2,000 rooms which can house 4,000 people on a twin sharing basis. As we would be hiring roughly 12,000 people on an average, if we train 4,000 employees for four months, we should be able to turnaround three batches in a year at this
centre," he says.
The Infosys Chief Mentor adds, "In our business the only constant is change. Training is hugely important as it is the only way one can keep in touch with contemporary issues."
Mr. Murthy, who graduated as an engineer from the Mysore's reputed institution, the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) and hence holds dear to his heart this the erstwhile royal city, plans to spend more of his time away from technology hub of India, Bangalore, the headquarters of his company.
A trainee-student who has undergone a month's training at this centre says, "The cool things inside the campus are the cricket stadium, bicycles inside campus, cafe Coffee Day and many more. The lawns are imported from abroad. There is greenery all over the area. It is stunning , amazing beautiful. I have no words left to describe the plush multi acre campus. It's an awesome training centre."
India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will formally inaugurate the new Infosys campus on Feb. 12. Announcing this Narayana Murthy has said in Bangalore, "The Mysore campus will house our leadership institute and a software development centre."
